December 2013. It was a Sunday and I was checking lab manuals in my office at 2 o’clock in the afternoon. Medyo nagpile up na at ayokong may iniisip na trabaho during the holidays so I decided to work.

Halfway pa lang ako sa isang section, 2 more sections to go kaya I decide to take a break and check my e-mail. Apparently, my plan to study abroad on a scholarship was on its way. The university I applied to just e-mailed me a PDF copy of my acceptance and the agency that would supply the scholarship funds were giving me the ‘you’re definitely getting it’ sign.

Lahat nakalock. Imposibleng hinangin lang. So I called out the name of our staff member na pumapasok pag weekends.

Naka-lock yung door kung saan siya tumatambay. Nung kumatok ako walang sumasagot. So I assumed wala siya. Hindi pa nakakalipas ang 2 minuto, I heard the same loud sound this time closer to my office.

I turned off the music and waited in silence. I went out of my office and said, “Sorry kung nakabulabog ako. Masaya lang talaga ako. Paalis na ako in a while, wag ka nang manakot.”

After checking that I was indeed alone and wasn’t locking anyone in the building, I went home. I was silent about the incident until the next time I experienced the same thing in February 2014.

This time I was just checking my e-mails after a 5-7pm lab exam. I was listening to music this time kasi kinakabahan na ako pag mag-isa ako sa building na yun. Biglang nawala yung sound pero may light yung speakers signifying na its power was still on at walang nahugot.

Tapos there was static for a few seconds. I quickly checked the music player, tuluy- tuloy lang yung movement nung music player. Nung bumalik yung sound, it picked off several seconds from where it stopped before the static. I was creeped out yet again so I decided to pack up and go home.

So I just considered myself lucky kasi yung iba nakakakita pa raw ng babaeng nakasuot ng kulay brown sa may CR. Of course, at that time, I didn’t know ako pala yung susunod na makakakita sa babaeng yun…
